Sometimes life throws hard decisions your way. Recently our pup Winston tore both of his back CCLs (cranial cruciate ligaments, similar to ACLs in humans). Unfortunately, this doesn't heal in dogs, once they tear they continue to tear until they are completely torn. The only fix for this problem is a rather intense bone operation on the knee joint. The only alternatives are managing his pain as he gets more and more crippled, and euthanasia.
So, a week ago, our sweet boy underwent a double operation on his back legs. It's been a tough week so far with a few sleepless nights, but he's young and strong and recovering nicely. Hopefully he will have a full and vital life once his legs are working again.
